    We had a few crew members go pistol shooting at the Firing Line in Huntington Beach with Mr Slaney as the pistol instructor.


    Crew members participated in a day long NRA Handgun Basic course taught by Mr Lou Kirk of Crew 711


    We saw a youth planned event this month in "Fender Bender" where we challenged Crew 412 from Fountain Valley and met at Irvine K1 Speed. Crew 412 won the 'best crew' award and is now challenged to host another event to pass it along.

    Crew 339 co-hosted a Court of Honor with Troop 339 where youth were recognized for all their achievements from the past year.


    Venturing Banquet: Christian Redman was recognized for Ranger and Venturing Gold, Silver.

    Battle for Goat Hill - Shootout at Burro Canyon - A number of crew members and advisors participated in this event.  We had 13 lanes open on the firing line with shooting disciplines in Shotgun, Black Powder, .22 cal rifle, pistols and high power rifles. In the morning we had free shoot and in the afternoon we had games including Turkey Shoot, Poker Shoot, Bi-athalon, and the 3-gun shootout.

    Crew membership surge: We welcome our new youth crew members: Ann-Marie L, Jacob G, Jake M, William L, Adan V, Ben G, Michael W, Victoria M, and our new adults Mrs Leiby, Mrs McIntyre, Mr Gordon, Mrs Navelasco, Mrs Galloway.

    National Youth Leadership Training at Lost Valley. Crew 339 had 2 participants, 3 youth staff, and 1 adult staff on course this year.


    Our first outing planned by the new crew members was Fender Bender II at Go Kart World in Carson.  We spent 2 hours riding cars on 4 different tracks including bumper cars, skid track, turbo track and the high speed big track.

    National Jamboree at The Summit - Crew 339 had 3 youth members: Ben G, Christian R, and Victoria M participating and 2 adults (the Edgerly's) on medical staff.


    Someone Cares Soup Kitchen Service Project - We had 3 crew members participate for the morning helping in the kitchen with food preparations. This annual project started an an Eagle Scout project 2 years ago by AJ Fischer who arranged to have end-of-season left over game meat donated to the kitchen and prepared.  Community members were treated to wild boar, elk, tuna steaks, and more.

    Looking Ahead

    Aug 31 Rendezvous @ Holcomb Scout Range is a pre-1840's reenactment of a wild west mountain man hunting/trapping/mining camp.  Regular participants are in period attire and use period camping gear.  Our crew members will be able to participate in some activities while in full uniform and perhap begin work on the Living History portion of the Outdoor Bronze award

    The crew continues working toward achieving the Gold level of Journey to Excellence this year. We're on track so far but will need your help where and how you can to complete some of the requirments. You can read more about the Journey to Excellence here.

    Our program is youth led so these are just a few suggestions for readily available service and activities opportunies, or they can cook up their own.
